Literary Themes

On one side of the street where I grew up in Brooklyn, was the pastoral and mysterious Green-Wood Cemetery, not far was Prospect Park. At the north side of the Park stood the Public Library designed like a giant open book. Adjoining it was the Museum and Botanical Gardens. 

 

These haunts and my mother’s little library of classics were my urban teachers, each for free. All, easy to walk to when children could walk about by themselves. I had much to explore.
